Assessing Concussions During the Game

Recently, during the offseason for the National Football League, the premier player of the sport, Tom Brady (who is also regarded as the greatest quarterback in the history of the sport), was revealed to have suffered a concussion during Super Bowl LI, a game in which he led his team, the New England Patriots, to a massive comeback over the Atlanta Falcons to win his fifth Super Bowl in his career.

His wife, Gisele Bundchen, let it slip that he suffered a concussion, but upon further investigation from the league, this was a miscommunication and Brady never did endure a concussion during the big game. It did raise questions, however, about the ways in which the NFL has dealt with concussions in the past, something that has been a notable controversy for quite some time now.

A new test for people who are suspected to have suffered concussions is known as the ImPACT Test and it is designed for children to test very simple skills. It would stand to reason that NFL players of sound mind would also pass the test, but if they do not, they would be able to play.

Hopefully, this becomes an effective solution in the hopes of solving the NFL’s major concussion problem.
